Junior Kristen Qualls has been named the Mississippi College Wright & Ferguson Female Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Monday (April 16).
Qualls (Madison, Miss.) set the school record with her 28th career home run on Friday against #22 UAH. Her 7th long ball of the year came with two outs in the seventh inning to tie the score at 6-6. In the rain-shortened two-game series, Qualls went 4-for-8 with a home run, a double, three RBI and two runs scored.
On the season, the former Madison Central standout is hitting .302 with seven home runs, five doubles, a triple and a team-high 35 RBI. Qualls' 28th home run passed the previous record of 27 by Brooke Smitherman (2011-15).
Qualls and the Lady Choctaws will be back home this weekend for the final home games of the year, hosting West Alabama at the MC Softball Complex.
