Sophomore Kristen Qualls has been named the Mississippi College Wright & Ferguson Athlete of the Week for her efforts in a three-game sweep of rival Delta State over the weekend.
Qualls (Madison, Miss.) hit .500 (4-of-8) with a home run, a double and three RBI. The former Madison Central HS standout had at least one hit and one run scored in each of the three games.
In the opener, she went 1-for-3 with an RBI double in the third inning to score senior Tylan Buckley and tie the score at 2-2. In the second game, her two-run home run in the 4th inning gave the Lady Choctaws the lead for good in a 3-1 victory. In the finale, Kristen singled and scored on a 3-run triple by Makenzie Nieto to help lead MC to a 9-1 victory.
Qualls and the Lady Choctaws will head to the Gulf South Conference Tournament this week, opening the event on Thursday (May 4) against Lee University at 10:00 a.m.
