CLINTON, MS - The Hardin-Simmons University Cowboys used a balanced scoring attack to beat LeTourneau 74-65 Friday in A. E. Wood Coliseum and advance to the semifinal round of the American Southwest Conference Men's Basketball Championship Tournament.
The Cowboys controlled much of the game forcing LeTourneau into one of their worst shooting performances of the season. The Yellow Jackets shot under 30 percent hitting 19-65 of their shot attempts including just 4-29 from three point range.
HSU was led by Zach Pickelman who netted a game high 19 points. Pickelman hit 6-15 shots and grabbed six rebounds. Matt Brackett added 18 points hitting two of his three long distance attempt. Mardochee Jean recorded a double double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
LeTourneau placed four players in double figure points led by Jayme Bradley with 13 points. J. J. Rockmore, Dewones Smith and Dusty Evers each contributed 12 points.
