Stepping into his inaugural season with the Choctaws in 2024, Coach Will Paruta brings a wealth of defensive expertise as he assumes the role of Defensive Coordinator - Linebackers.
His journey to Clinton is marked by significant contributions to various football programs. Beginning as a Student Assistant Strength Coach at Clemson University from 2013 to 2016, Coach Paruta played an integral role in the team's extraordinary success, contributing to three consecutive ACC Championships (2015, 2016, and 2017), three playoff appearances, and a National Championship victory in 2016. His tenure at Clemson also saw the development of numerous NFL players under his guidance.
Transitioning to coaching roles, Coach Paruta continued to excel. In 2017, he served as a Graduate Intern with the defense under DC Brent Venables, gaining valuable experience and insights at the collegiate level. The following year, Coach Paruta joined Jacksonville State University as a Graduate Assistant with the defensive line, contributing to the team's OVC conference championship victory.
From 2019 to 2020, Coach Paruta assumed the role of Senior Defensive Analyst at Troy University, where he worked closely with the defensive line and safeties. Despite facing challenges, his expertise contributed to the development of the team's defensive strategies.
In subsequent years, Coach Paruta continued to make an impact, serving as the Senior Defensive Analyst at Coastal Carolina from 2021 to 2022. During his tenure, the team achieved significant success, including an 11-2 record, a Cure Bowl victory, and leadership in defensive statistical categories within the conference.
In 2023, Coach Paruta joined Liberty University as the Senior Defensive Analyst, where his contributions helped lead the team to an undefeated regular season and a Conference USA Championship. The team's exceptional defensive performance, including leading the country in interceptions, underscored Coach Paruta's expertise and leadership.
Originally from Fairfield, NJ, Coach Paruta's journey from Clemson to his current role reflects his unwavering dedication to football and defensive excellence. Alongside his professional achievements, Coach Paruta is engaged to Chandler Campbell, with plans for marriage in May, further highlighting his commitment to personal and professional success.
