Griffin Smith joined the Mississippi Christian University baseball staff in the summer of 2026 after quickly emerging as one of the rising young coaches in collegiate baseball.
Smith spent the previous two seasons as the head coach and hitting coach at Ecclesia College, compiling a 54-21 overall record while leading the Royals to national success offensively. In 2025, Ecclesia posted a 33-14 record, won the regular season conference championship and earned the No. 1 regional seed. Smith was named the 2025 Conference Coach of the Year and Natural State College Coach of the Year.
Under Smith, Ecclesia consistently ranked among the national leaders in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage and stolen bases while producing 22 all-conference selections, five Gold Glove winners and two all-region honorees over two seasons. His teams also excelled academically with GPAs above 3.40.
Prior to becoming head coach, Smith served as Ecclesia’s associate head coach, recruiting coordinator, hitting coach and pitching coach. He also gained summer collegiate experience in the Northwoods League with the Rockford Rivets and Green Bay Rockers.
In addition, Smith has worked as a high school area scout for Prep Baseball Report since 2019.
A native of Springdale, Ark., Smith earned his bachelor’s degree in health sciences from Central Baptist College in 2022 and is currently pursuing a degree in sports administration from Arkansas State University.
