Mitchell Pate enters his third season on the coaching staff of the Choctaws.  For Pate, it will be his second season as the defensive line coach.

In the 2011 season, Pate led a defensive line that placed two players on the All-ASC teams.  Jarryn Bingham was a First Team selection after leading the conference with eight sacks.  Jeremy Horton was also recognized, earning an Honorable Mention selection.  Bingham was also named to the D3Football.com National Team of the Week and the ASC Defensive Player of the Week after recording a single-game conference record four sacks in a victory over Howard Payne.

Mitchell spent the 2010 season as a graduate assistant and served several roles on that side of the ball.  Pate helped coach Lytrel Pollard with the defensive backs.

Mitchell played four seasons for the Choctaws, spending the first two seasons as a fullback and moving to linebacker for his final two years.  Pate collected 123 career tackles and 8.0 tackles for loss.  Pate shined as a senior when he led the team with 75 total tackles.

Prior to MC, Mitchell served as the defensive coordinator at Forest Hill High School.

Mitchell received his undergraduate degree in kinesiology and is currently pursuing his Master's in Higher Education.

Mitchell is the son of Sammy and Gayla Pate.  He is married to the former Beth Ray.
