Jay Bright is entering his first season as an assistant coach at Mississippi College.

Bright will work primarly with quarterbacks after spending the 2013 season coaching the signal-callers at the University of the Cumberlands under head coach John Bland. The Patriots advanced to the NAIA national championship game and reached the #1 ranking in the country over the final weeks of the season. Their success on offense was due in large part to freshman quarterback Adam Craig, who compiled over 2,600 yards of total offense and accounted for 39 total touchdowns. He rushed for 1,251 yards and 26 touchdowns, while passing for 1,365 yards and 13 scores.

Bright spent three seasons as the starting quarterback for the Patriots from 2007-12, spending one season as a red-shirt and missing 2011 with an injury. In 2009, the Bright-led Patriots came to Clinton and beat the eventual ASC Champion Choctaws, 55-26. He threw for 199 yards and five touchdowns, while Cumberlands racked up 396 rushing yards. For his career, Jay was a part of four Mid-South Conference championship teams, Academic All-Conference four times and All-Conference Honorable Mention three times. In 2009, he was named UC's Offensive MVP, and he earned the Patriot Award in 2011 and 2012. After his playing career at Cumberlands, he now holds three school records: touchdown passes in a game, career touchdown passes and career passing yards.

Bright is a native of Fayetteville, Ga. where he graduated from Whitewater High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics degree at University of the Cumberlands.
