In addition, our team is responsible for supporting our athletic teams, school events, and maintaining a positive image while representing our school within the community.

2024 STUNT CLINICS
Prospect clinics are opportunity for current highschoolers and college transfers interested in mississippi college cheerleading to learn gameday material and stunts required for tryouts

ATTIRE: Females: fitted tank/shirt, athletic shorts, sports bra,cheer/athletic shoes, hair up and out of face, gameday make up is preferred, NO jewelry*compression shorts must be worn under athletic shorts

Attire for Friday night:
Participants must wear athletic attire conducive to practicing cheerleading skills, which includes Nike Pros/compression shorts. Also, bring running shoes for the fitness test.

Saturday, April 6th
Check In: 8:15 AM
Tryouts: 8:30 AM-1:00 PM*
Location: A.E. Wood Coliseum, Mississippi College campus
Parking: Top level of parking garage across the street from the coliseum
Attire for Saturday:
Tryout appearance should be “performance ready.” Please remove all piercings
and cover up tattoos. Nails must be athletic length or shorter.
Females: Hair half-up, with bow, straight or curled. Gameday makeup. White top, black shorts, Nike Pros/compression shorts, and athletic or cheer shoes
Males: White top, black athletic shorts, and athletic or cheer shoes.

Any braces or tape needed for stunting and tumbling
Transportation, meals, and housing will be the responsibility of each athlete. There
are several hotels in Clinton. The newest ones are the Hilton Garden Inn and the
Fairfield Inn. Both are very convenient to campus.
*Tryout Results: The 2024-2025 MC Cheer Team will be announced by 3:00 PM on Instagram. A team meeting will be held in the coliseum immediately after the announcement.

Tryout Fee: Females $45; Males $25 (please make checks out to Mississippi College Cheerleading.)
Fitness Test:
Fight song and cheer: You will be evaluated on proper motion technique, placement and sharpness of motions, voice projection and overall performance execution.
Please use the tryout material video to learn both the fight song and cheer PRIOR to tryouts
(see tryout material video below).
Tumbling: Standing and running tumbling will be evaluated on execution and difficulty. While tumbling is not required, it will add points to your overall tryout score.
Stunts: Candidates will be asked to show a straight up cupie , J-up extension, straight up liberty, and stunt of choice. Male candidate’s stunt of choice is required to either be a toss chair stunt, toss to hands, or other coed stunt of choice.
Interview: Ability to quickly and accurately answer questions about yourself

Q:Is tumbling required ?
A: No, although standing back handspring and round off backhandspring is preferred
Q: How is the squad selected ?
A:The squad is selected based on the requirements and ability to represent Mississippi College. This is done by the head coach, and scores tabulated from selected anonymous judges.
Q: How much of a time commitment is MC cheerleading?
A:We have up to but no more than 3 practices a week as well as workouts with a
trainer in our weight room 2 times a week.
Q:Does the team travel ?
A:Yes, the team will cheer at selected away football games and the GSC men & women’s conference basketball tournament plus any post season play.
Q:What sports does the squad cheer for?
A:Football

Q:Can I work and cheer?
A:Yes, but must be a flexible employer as team commitment is top priority.
Q: Are there any community events the team is required to participate in?
A: Yes, there are many appearances throughout the year that the cheerleaders are required to attend
Q: Other than cheerleading abilities, what are you looking for in a recruit?
A: We are looking for well-rounded athletes and students. Mississippi College Spirit aims to build strong teams, athletes and people. As a coaching staff, our top goal is to prepare you for post-college life as an adaptable, hard-working team player.
