CLINTON, Miss. — Mississippi Christian fell 4-0 to Valdosta State on Wednesday at Robert P. Longabaugh Field.
The Choctaws kept the Blazers off the scoreboard through the opening 45 minutes before Valdosta State scored all four of its goals in the second half.
MC created several opportunities early, including a sustained stretch from the 13th through 26th minutes that featured shots from Paula Catalan, Cooper Holmes and Kerri O'Hara, along with two corner kicks.
The Blue and Gold carried that attacking pressure into the opening minutes of the second half, recording four shots between the 49th and 55th minutes. Catalan and Olivia Graham each put a shot on goal during the stretch.
Valdosta State broke through in the 65th minute when Kyndal Smith scored off an assist from Michaela Mensah. Sarah Hudson added another goal less than five minutes later, and the Blazers added two more goals in the final 11 minutes.
MC continued to push late, earning corner kicks in the 85th and 88th minutes, but could not find the back of the net.
Catalan led the Choctaws with three shots, including one on goal. Jaylen Bodry recorded two shots, both on frame, while Graham added two shots and one shot on goal.
Brynn Hedberg played all 90 minutes in goal and made one save.
The Choctaws fall to 3-2-1 overall and 0-1-1 in Gulf South Conference play.
