CLINTON, Miss. — No. 10 Mississippi Christian University men's soccer returns to Clinton for its 2026 home opener Sunday, hosting Saint Leo University in a non-conference matchup at Robert P. Longabaugh Field.

Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT.

The Choctaws enter Sunday's contest 0-1 following a narrow 3-2 loss at No. 8 Lynn in Thursday's season opener. Mississippi Christian held leads of 1-0 and 2-1 before Lynn rallied, scoring the game-winning goal in the 87th minute. 

Sophomore Karim Gegg opened the scoring just seven minutes into the match, finishing off assists from Patrick Vukoje and freshman Lian Feridani. Freshman Harry McLean later gave the Choctaws a 2-1 advantage with his first collegiate goal in the 61st minute. 

Mississippi Christian generated 12 shots with five on goal against the nationally ranked Fighting Knights. Despite the result, the Choctaws showed attacking pressure throughout the match and carried a lead into the second half before Lynn's comeback. 

Scouting Saint Leo

Saint Leo also enters Sunday looking for its first victory of the season after dropping a 2-0 decision at Auburn Montgomery on Thursday.

The Lions produced 13 shots and placed five on goal against AUM while earning eight corner kicks. Junior goalkeeper Vincent Fournier recorded two saves. Luis Gaitan led Saint Leo offensively with three shots, including two on target, while Alejo Tangredi, Christian Getsos and Virgilio Escala each registered two attempts. 

AUM scored its opening goal in the 38th minute before adding another in the second half. Saint Leo continued creating chances after halftime, including several opportunities during a late push, but could not break through. 

Sunday's matchup brings together two teams looking to rebound from season-opening road losses. Mississippi Christian will look to build on an offensive performance that produced two goals against a top-10 opponent, while Saint Leo comes to Clinton after generating 13 shots against AUM.
