Choctaws Earn NCAA South Regional Bid, Set to Face West Alabama in Opening Round

CLINTON, Miss. — Mississippi College women's tennis is headed back to the NCAA postseason.

The Choctaws have earned a bid to the 2026 NCAA Division II South Regional, set to be hosted by Barry University at the Buccaneer Tennis Center in Miami Shores, Florida. Mississippi College enters the tournament as the No. 4 seed and will open play against No. 5 seed West Alabama on Friday, May 8, at 9 a.m. CT.

MC brings an impressive 23-1 overall record into the regional, including a perfect 8-0 mark in Gulf South Conference play. The Choctaws have been dominant both at home and on the road this season, posting unbeaten records in each setting while building one of the top resumes in the region.

Friday's matchup with West Alabama marks a familiar conference showdown, with both programs battling throughout the season in GSC competition. The winner will advance to face top-seeded Barry on Saturday, May 9, at 10 a.m. CT for a spot in the NCAA Division II Championships.

The regional will be held at the Buccaneer Tennis Center, the home facility for Barry's nationally prominent tennis programs. The complex features eight lighted Laykold acrylic courts and has served as a frequent host site for NCAA South Region competition.

Barry, the tournament's No. 1 seed and host institution, awaits the winner of the opening-round contest after earning a first-round bye.

The NCAA South Regional is part of the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championship, with teams competing for a chance to advance to the national finals later this month.

For Mississippi College, the postseason appearance continues a standout 2025-26 campaign, as the Choctaws look to carry their momentum into regional play and make a deep run on the national stage.
