MC Softball Falls to AUM in GSC Tournament, Awaits NCAA Selection Show Monday

OXFORD, Ala. – A late push by Mississippi College fell just short on Friday afternoon as the Choctaws dropped a 2-1 decision to #6 Auburn Montgomery in the 2025 Gulf South Conference Softball Championship at Choccolocco Park.

With the loss, MC (36-17) is eliminated from the GSC Tournament and will now turn its attention to Monday morning's NCAA Division II Softball Selection Show, scheduled for 9 a.m. CT, to learn if its season will continue in the NCAA South Region.

Despite a strong performance in the circle by senior Madison Jenkins (15-5), who allowed just one earned run on five hits with five strikeouts across 6.1 innings, the Choctaws were unable to capitalize offensively, stranding three runners and managing only four hits.

AUM (37-10) struck first with a run in the opening inning and later walked it off in the seventh after tying the game at 1-1 in the top of the sixth. Jasmine Sneed's RBI single up the middle in the final frame plated the go-ahead run, sealing the Warhawks' advancement in the tournament.

MC's lone run came in the sixth inning on an RBI single by third baseman Madelyn England that brought home Bella Myers, who had doubled earlier in the frame.

Reese Cauley (20-4) went the distance for Auburn Montgomery, scattering four hits and striking out three in the complete-game effort.

The Choctaws, who entered the tournament as a strong contender with several key wins on their résumé, will now await their postseason fate as the NCAA prepares to unveil the regional field.

The NCAA Division II Softball Selection Show will stream live on NCAA.com on Monday, May 5, at 9 a.m. CT.
