LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Mississippi College track & field delivered a strong showing at the UWA Invitational on Saturday, March 8, highlighted by multiple top finishes across sprints, hurdles, relays, and field events.
The Choctaws dominated the women's 4x100m relay, as the team of Livia Fischer, H. Jackson, N. Klassen, and A. Green clocked a winning time of 47.58 seconds to secure first place. Fischer also had an impressive individual performance in the 100m dash, finishing second with a time of 12.06 seconds.
In hurdles, Madison Flugence led a 1-2 finish for MC in the 100m hurdles, taking first place in 14.64 seconds, just ahead of Katie Gates in 14.76 seconds.
The Choctaws were dominant in the 400m, with Alana Green (1:00.80) and Ann Cobb (1:01.51) securing the top two spots in the event. Fischer continued her success in the 200m, finishing third at 25.40 seconds, with Green right behind her at 25.46 seconds.
On the men's side, Damone Daniels posted a strong time of 11.11 seconds in the 100m, while Davion Smith finished second in the 200m with a time of 21.94 seconds.
The men's 400m hurdles saw Oliver Ollesch take first place in 54.01 seconds, followed closely by Matias Vasquez in 54.34 seconds. The Choctaws also claimed victory in the men's 4x400m relay, as Ollesch, Vasquez, Smith, and Dorian Hurd combined for a winning time of 3:21.84.
In field events, Bryan Puckett led MC in the hammer throw, finishing first with a mark of 49.04m (160-10). Steven Conrad impressed in the shot put, placing second with a throw of 14.65m (48-00.75), followed closely by Puckett in third at 14.47m (47-05.75).
On the women's side, Rebekah Zweerink placed second in the hammer throw, recording a best mark of 38.79m (127-03).
Mississippi College's strong performances at West Alabama mark an encouraging start to the outdoor season as the team continues to build momentum heading into upcoming meets.
