The first half began with Mississippi College taking an early lead when
Charlie Cooper scored in the 3rd minute, assisted by
Summer Utzig. The Blue and Gold maintained pressure, with
Celine Grothe making multiple key saves following Delta State's attempts on goal. Despite consistent offensive efforts and a few fouls on both sides, MC held onto their 1-0 advantage at the close of the half.
The second half was tightly contested with the Choctaws maintaining defensive pressure. Grothe provided key saves in the 64th minute, denying Delta State's shots by Mariela Dolan and Mackenzie Winters to keep the match level. Delta State found a breakthrough in the 70th minute with a goal by Casey Stalder, shifting momentum. MC responded with offensive pressure, including a corner and shot by
Parker St. Amant, saved by Piper Burgess. However, Delta State extended their lead with a goal from Millie Congerton in the 84th minute. The period closed with the Choctaws trailing, final score 2-1 in favor of Delta State.
