MILLINGTON, Tenn. --- The Mississippi College women's golf team started the 2024-25 season in big fashion as it secured a team and individual crown at the Joe and Lee Duncan Invitational. It marks the second consecutive season MC has secured the team title at the Rhodes College hosted event.

The Choctaws fired a 579 over the course of the two days. After shooting a program-low 285 in the opening round, the squad followed with a 294 in the final round to secure the win.

Tina Honnef paced the Blue and Gold in the victory as she claimed her first, collegiate crown. The Thun, Bern, Switzerland, native opened the tournament with a 70 and turned in a 72 in the second round to finish two under par (142) to finish tied for first after the 36 holes. The freshman drained a 12-foot birdie to win the shoot-off and claim the individual title.

Ana Quintanilla Gutierrez turned in a top five finish as she shot a 74 in the final round. The sophomore carded a 71 in the opening round on Monday and turned in a 145 for the two days. Freshman
Ashlynd Madden was one stroke back of Gutierrez to finished tied for seventh as she shot a 71 and 75 for a two-day score of 146.

Fran Herrera Tallone rounded out the Choctaw quintet as she finished tied for 10th. The sophomore carded a 73 in the opening round and completed play with a 77 in the final round for a two-day score of 150.

Oglethorpe University's Elizabeth Powell finished second with a 142 while Huntingdon College's Mary Davis finished in third with a 142. Rhodes finished second in the team standings with a 593. Centre College finished third with a 604.

Mississippi College returns to action on Monday, Oct. 14 as it travels to Jonesboro, Ark., and the Sage Meadows Country Club.
