OXFORD, Ala. --- #4 Mississippi College celebrated its 44th victory of the season, breaking the single season record for wins in a season (43 wins in 2023) in a fiercely contested matchup against UAH, maintaining an unblemished record and advancing confidently in the winner's bracket with a 3-2 win.
MC was led by a standout pitching performance from Camryn Bailey, who delivered a complete-game gem, recording 10 strikeouts while conceding only two runs on five hits.
From the outset, Mississippi College ignited the scoreboard with a commanding three-run surge in the third inning. Shelby Samples' double and Kamryn Eaton's strategic play propelled the Lady Choctaws to an early advantage.
While UAH mounted a comeback, narrowing the deficit to two runs in the fourth inning courtesy of Jada Henderson's solo home run, their efforts fell short. Henderson's RBI-single in the sixth inning cut the lead to 3-2, but Bailey and MC's defense shut the Chargers down in the bottom of the seventh to win by a final of 3-2.
MC improved to 44-6 overall on the season and tallied their 18th win in a row. Bailey collected 10 strikeouts and her 21st strikeout in two appearances on the Tournament to improve to 24-3 on the season in the circle. It's the second season in a row Bailey has tied the single season wins record in the circle with 24 wins.
The Lady Choctaws had eight hits on the night with multi hit performances by Emily Rigney and Jordan Moore. MC awaits to the winner on Valdosta State and West Florida for a first pitch time of 3:30 p.m. at Choccolocca Park in Oxford, Ala.
