CLINTON, Miss. — Mississippi College softball's historic season came to a close with a narrow 6-5 loss to Auburn University at Montgomery in game two of the NCAA Division II Super Regional. The Choctaws end the year with a remarkable 48-9 record, the most wins in program history.
This season was filled with milestones and firsts for the Choctaws. They secured the most wins in program history and boasted a 19-game winning streak. For the second consecutive year, they achieved a 40-win season, underscoring their consistent excellence on the diamond.
Mississippi College was crowned the regular season Gulf South Conference (GSC) champions and earned their highest NCAA regional ranking to date. They hosted the NCAA South II Regional for the first time in history and emerged as the South II Regional champions, another first for the program. Their stellar performance throughout the season propelled them to the highest national ranking in program history.
The team celebrated its 900th all-time win this season, a testament to the program's enduring success. Head Coach
Brooke O'Hair, who was named GSC Coach of the Year for the second straight season, notched her 500th career victory this year, further cementing her legacy.
Several Choctaw players received individual accolades for their exceptional play.
McCall Lee,
Camryn Bailey, and
Jordan LaFosse were named to the GSC First Team, while
Shelby Samples earned a spot on the GSC Second Team. Lee also garnered the Co-Gold Glove award in the GSC, highlighting her defensive prowess.
