Monticello, Ark. — Mississippi College swept Arkansas-Monticello on Wednesday, winning game one 6-5 before winning game two, 8-5.

The Lady Choctaws got on the board first when Hannah Tauzin singled in the second allowing Ashley Lightcap to make it 1-0. 

Following a pair of runs by Arkansas-Monticello, Jenny Griggers hit a two-run shot in the fourth to make it 3-2.

After another two runs by the Cotton Blossoms in the fifth, Griggers scored off a wild pitch in the seventh to tie the game back up 4-4.  

The Lady Choctaws then added two more runs in the eighth as Jordan LaFosse scored on a McCall Lee RBI single and JaKayla Shankle scored on a sac fly from Ashley Lightcap to make it 6-4.

The Cotton Blossoms added one more run in the eighth but it was not enough as the Lady Choctaws hung on to win 6-5.

McCall Lee led the way at the plate for the Blue & Gold, going 2-3 with an RBI.  Jenny Griggers went 2-4 with a pair of RBI and a home run, and Jordan LaFosse, Ashley Lightcap, and Hannah Tauzin all added hits.

Camryn Bailey was the winning pitcher, giving up just one earned run and striking out six in five full innings.  

Jadyn Hart was the leader at the plate for the Cotton Blossoms going 2-3 with an RBI. 

Kyann Woods was the losing pitcher giving up two hits and two earned runs in two innings.

In game two, the Lady Choctaws got off to a fast start, putting up five runs in the first inning.  The Scoring got started when Emily Rigney scored on a wild pitch. 

The second run came off an RBI single by Kamryn Eaton that sent McCall Lee home.  Brookelyn Cannon capped off the inning with a three-run homer to left-center, making it 5-0.

The Blue & Gold stayed hot in the second as Jordan LaFosse hit a two-run shot to center field and McCall Lee hit a solo bomb down the left field line to give them a commanding 8-0 lead.     

The Cotton Blossoms attempted a comeback, putting up runs in the second, fifth, and sixth innings, however they were not able to overcome the scoring barrage from the Lady Choctaws and the final score was 8-5.  

McCall Lee was the leader at the place for the Lady Choctaws batting 2-4 with a home run and a double.  Brookelyn Cannon also had a good day at the plate going 2-3 with three RBI.  Kamryn Eaton and Emily Rigney both went 2-4 and Jordan LaFosse went 1-4 with a homer.  Bailee Avants, JaKayla Shankle, and Jordan Moore also recorded hits as well. 

Brookelyn Cannon pitched all seven innings, allowing one earned run and six hits while striking out six batters.  

For the Cotton Blossoms Bailey Groom hit a home run and Maggie Miller went 2-4 with two RBI. MC improved to 28-6 overall with the wins and will take on Valdosta State this weekend in Clinton, Miss, beginning on Saturday at 2 p.m.
