CLEVELAND, Miss. --- Mississippi College softball secured a dominant victory over Delta State in game one of Saturday's doubleheader, triumphing 18-1 before winning game two 5-1, earning their crown as the 2024 GSC Regular Season Champions at 24-6 overall in GSC play this season.
The Lady Choctaws wasted no time in establishing their lead, with
Shelby Samples delivering a crucial hit in the 1st inning, bringing home two runs.
McCall Lee added to the tally with a single, extending the lead to 3-0.
The momentum continued into the 2nd inning, as Samples and Lee contributed further RBIs, propelling Mississippi College to a commanding 6-0 advantage.
Delta State managed to get on the board in the 2nd inning, but it was not enough to slow down the Lady Choctaws. Jordann LaFosse's homer in the 4th inning ignited another scoring spree, with Mississippi College adding multiple runs to secure the comprehensive victory, 18-1.
In game two of the day, Mississippi College continued their strong performance, clinching a 5-1 win over Delta State.
The Lady Choctaws once again took an early lead, with Jordan LaFosse crossing the plate in the 1st inning. Kam Eaton extended the lead with a powerful homer, bringing the score to 3-0.
Despite a solo homer from Delta State in the 4th inning, Mississippi College maintained their advantage. A double from Jordan Moore in the 6th inning sealed the victory, with Mississippi College emerging triumphant, 5-1.
The #10 Lady Choctaws concluded the regular season on a high note, achieving a record-breaking 42 wins (42-6) in the regular season and a stellar 24-6 record in GSC play.
Their remarkable performance earned them the title of 2024 GSC Regular Season Champions, marking the first time since 1993. As they head into the GSC Tournament, MC claims the No. 1 seed, poised for continued success in Oxford, Ala., starting Wednesday.
