Softball Takes Sunday Win Over AUM

MONTGOMERY, Ala.  — In a thrilling game three matchup on Sunday, Mississippi College secured a decisive 3-0 victory over AUM.

The scoring action kicked off in the first inning when Shelby Samples grounded out to second base, driving in Jordan LaFosse and allowing McCall Lee to score, giving MC an early 1-0 lead.

The momentum continued in the third inning when McCall Lee delivered a powerful homer to left field, extending MCs lead to 2-0.

Not content with a two-run advantage, MC pushed another run across in the fifth inning with a single up the middle by Shelby Samples, bringing McCall Lee across home plate once again and solidifying the 3-0 scoreline.

Throughout the game, MC's offense amassed a total of 11 hits. McCall Lee led the charge with an impressive performance, going 3-for-4 at the plate with three runs and one RBI, the solo home run. Additionally, Jordan LaFosse and Shelby Samples contributed to the offensive effort with two hits each.

On the defensive side, pitcher Brookelyn Cannon held AUM scoreless while allowing only three hits over the course of the game. Cannon was instrumental in the circle, strking out six, on her way to helping secure Mississippi College's shutout victory.

With the win, MC improves to 11-3 overall on the season and 3-3 in GSC play. They return home on Wednesday to play Arkansas-Monticello with double-header action beginning at 2 p.m. at the MC Softball Complex.
