CLINTON, Miss. – The Mississippi College women's soccer team will travel to Montevallo, Alabama, for a Gulf South Conference (GSC) Quarterfinal matchup against the second-seeded Montevallo Falcons on Sunday, November 10 at 4 p.m. The game will be played at the University of Montevallo's Varsity Soccer Field, marking the beginning of the 2024 GSC Women's Soccer Championship.
The Lady Choctaws (8-5-3, 4-5-3 GSC) enter the tournament as the seventh seed, having finished the regular season with a solid 4-5-3 record in conference play. They will face a tough opponent in the Falcons (10-4-3, 9-2-1 GSC), who finished second in the league standings. Montevallo comes into the match after dropping its last game, but they remain a formidable opponent, boasting a potent offensive attack and strong defense throughout the season.
Mississippi College will rely on its well-balanced team, with key players like graduate midfielder Margherita Giubilato, who has contributed five goals and two assists this season, and sophomore defender Irene Lores, who has been a standout in the backline. The Lady Choctaws have been one of the top-scoring teams in the conference, averaging 2.25 goals per game, but will face a Montevallo defense that has allowed just 1.06 goals per match.
The match will be streamed live on FloFC and available for viewing on the FloSports app. Fans can also follow the game via live stats and updates on Mississippi College's official athletic website.
