CLINTON, Miss. ---Â The Mississippi College softball team is gearing up for an action-packed 2024 season, announcing their official schedule on Wednesday.Â
Head Coach Brooke O'Hair expressed her anticipation, stating, "We are excited to get the 2024 season going. There was a lot of growth this fall and even more to look forward to this Spring. We have a lot of new faces on the field that have been a great addition to our returning players thus far. We look forward to our tough non-conference strength of schedule early on that will prepare us for strenuous GSC play."
The Choctaws take the field to start the season on February 2, heading to Youngsville, La., for a five-game opening series. The slate includes clashes against formidable opponents such as Oklahoma Baptist University, Southeastern Oklahoma State University, Southern Nazarene University, Augustana University, and Texas A&M University-Kingsville.
The 2024 schedule totals 23 home games, 30 GSC matchups, including 15 GSC home contests, as the Choctaws are poised for an action-packed season.
The home schedule kicks off with as the Choctaws face off against UAH in a series spanning February 17 and 18. The doubleheader on Saturday, February 17, at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. CT, followed by a single game on Sunday, February 18, at 1:00 p.m. CT, promises an exhilarating start to the home campaign.
Key home matchups throughout the season include a doubleheader against the University of Arkansas at Monticello on Wednesday, February 28, at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. CT, and a doubleheader against Ouachita Baptist University on Tuesday, March 5, at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. CT.
Fans can mark their calendars for an intense Friday night clash against West Florida on March 8 at 5:00 p.m. CT, followed by a doubleheader against the same opponent on Saturday, March 9, at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. CT.
As the season progresses, the Choctaws will host key GSC matchups, including Montevallo on Friday, March 15, at 5:00 p.m. CT, and a doubleheader on Saturday, March 16, at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. CT.
Other notable home contests include doubleheaders against Miles College on Wednesday, March 27, at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. CT, Valdosta State on Saturday, April 6, at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. CT, and a single game against Valdosta State on Sunday, April 7, at 1:00 p.m. CT.
The Choctaws will wrap up their home schedule with crucial matchups against Southern Arkansas University on Tuesday, April 16, at 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. CT, and a doubleheader against West Georgia on Saturday, April 20, at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. CT, followed by a single game on Sunday, April 21, at 1:00 p.m. CT.
