BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- The Gulf South Conference announced its Softball Players of the Week with Shelby Samples being tabbed the GSC Freshman of the Week for the fourth time season. This week's awards were for games played between April 24-30.

Samples helped Mississippi College go undefeated in their three-game series against Delta State. These wins earned the Choctaws a regular season wins record in school history with 39 wins, as well as tied for most wins in a season with 40 wins. The freshman finished the weekend 5-for-9 from the plate, scoring five runs. She carded a triple, a double, and a RBI.

Player of the Week: Gia Martin, Jr., 2B, Auburn Montgomery
Martin helped the Warhawks to a 2-1 weekend against Alabama Huntsville. She carded four hits with eight at-bats, scoring six runs total. The junior also had an impressive three home runs and five RBIs.

Pitcher of the Week: Taylor Lloyd, Fr., P, Montevallo
Lloyd tallied two wins this weekend in a two-game series against West Georgia. In the first game, she pitched a shutout 5.1 innings while giving up only three hits. The freshman carded four strikeouts to one walk for the 20 batters she faced. In the next game, Lloyd threw the final four innings, only giving up one earned run on six hits with a pair of strikeouts.
