Former Mississippi College Star Caitlin Hayes Shines Bright as Celtic's Soccer Sensation

CLINTON, Miss. --- Former Mississippi College Lady Choctaw soccer player Caitlin Hayes has had an outstanding season, and her hard work and exceptional performance on the field have been duly recognized. Hayes, who currently plays for Celtic's women's team, has recently received multiple prestigious awards, including Celtic's Women's Player of the Year, Players' Player of the Year, and PFA Scotland Player of the Year.

Throughout the season, the 27-year-old defender has been a standout player for Celtic, making significant contributions to the team's success in both the league and the cup competitions. One of the standout moments of her season was a last-minute equalizer against Rangers, a crucial goal that could prove to be decisive in the upcoming matches.

Hayes's leadership qualities were on full display when she captained the team in their midweek victory over Glasgow City. Her performance played a pivotal role in turning the game around, leading Celtic to a resounding 3-1 win. As the season draws to a close, Hayes remains focused on the final match against Hearts, which could potentially secure the league title for Celtic.

Currently sitting in third place, Celtic's chances of claiming the championship hinge on goal difference and the outcome of their match against Hearts. With a victory, Celtic could be crowned champions as long as they outscore Rangers by a margin of at least one goal. Such an achievement would be remarkable, especially considering the financial advantages enjoyed by rivals like Rangers and Glasgow City.

Caitlin Hayes' success this season is a testament to her skill, dedication, and leadership abilities. Her performances on the field have not only garnered individual recognition but have also helped propel Celtic to new heights.

Hayes starred for Mississippi College from 2014-2017 as she helped lead a Lady Choctaw squad that went 51-21-8 during her tenure. Hayes was named 1st-team All-American (United Soccr Coaches) and Honorable Mention All-American (D2CCA) following her senior season. She was a two-time 1st team All-GSC selection and a two-time All-South Region selection as well.

Hayes played in 68 matches at MC, tallying 20 goals and 8 assists during her time in Clinton. She also helped lead MC to a birth in NCAA regionals in 2017 and a run to the NCCAA National Championship match in 2015.

The awards she has received, including being named Celtic's Women's Player of the Year, Players' Player of the Year, and PFA Scotland Player of the Year, are well-deserved acknowledgments of her contributions to the team. Caitlin Hayes has undoubtedly made a significant impact in Scottish women's soccer, and her continued success will undoubtedly inspire future generations of athletes both in her alma mater and beyond.
