TAMPA, Fla. --- Due to lightening in the Tampa area, Friday night's elimination contest between MC and UAH has been postponed until Saturday morning.
Play is set to resume at 11 a.m. EST (10 a.m. CST) with UAH currently leading the Lady Choctaws 3-0 in the bottom of the first inning.
MC knocked off Tuskegee earlier on Friday afternoon, winning by a final score of 8-0 in five innings.
In the 1st inning, MC got off to a strong start with
Jenna Ergle reaching first base on a muffed throw by the first baseman, driving in
Shelby Samples for the first run of the game as MC took a 1-0 lead.
Jordan Moore followed with a groundout to first base, allowing Ergle to advance to second while McCall Lee advanced to third, and scoring Brooke Fagan.
Kamryn Eaton then hit a two RBI double to center field, bringing home
Jordan LaFosse and Ergle, extending their lead to 4-0. In the same inning, Samples drew a bases loaded walk, resulting in another run as Eaton scored, pushing MC up 5-0.
In the 2nd inning, LaFosse hit a sacrifice fly to right field, allowing Lee to score, increasing their lead to 6-0. In the 3rd inning, Samples delivered a double, driving in
Jaycee Dill and extending the Lady Choctaews lead to 7-0.
In the 5th inning, Samples continued to contribute offensively, hitting a single to left field and bringing home Dill for the final run of the game, as MC went on to win by a final score of making it 8-0.
MC had seven hits as a unit with
Shelby Samples and
Jaycee Dill each collecting two hits a piece in the win. They return to action in the morning
