CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Four standout Track and Field athletes from Mississippi College will compete at the highly-competitive Lee University Last Chance Invitational in pursuit of national-qualifying marks. The prestigious event offers a final opportunity for athletes to secure national-qualifying marks and set new school records. Representing the Choctaws are Essence Tornabene, Kevin Turner, Jan Lukas Becker, and Cole Benoit, all of whom have delivered exceptional performances throughout the season.
Essence Tornabene will compete in the Women's Hammer Throw, showcasing her strength in an event where she currently ranks 36th nationally. Recently at the Gulf South Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Tornabene earned second place in the Women's Hammer Throw and third in the Shot Put, showing she is ready to compete well at the Lee University Last Chance Invitational.
Kevin Turner, a sprinter with blazing speed, will participate in the Men's 100-meter dash. Turner currently holds the 19th spot in the nation for this event. His performance at the Gulf South Conference Championships earned him silver medals in both the Men's 100-meter dash and Men's 4x100-meter relay, showcasing his exceptional athleticism.
Long distance specialist Jan Lukas Becker will take on the Men's 5,000-meter run, where he is ranked 34th nationally. Becker's recent victories at the Gulf South Conference Championships in the Men's 3,000-meter steeplechase and Men's 5,000-meter run highlight his impressive resume that includes five GSC titles and three NCAA Division II All-American finishes in this season alone.
Lastly, Cole Benoit will compete in the Men's 1500-meter run, an event in which he currently ranks 22nd in the nation. Benoit's recent victory at the Gulf South Conference Championships in the Men's 1500-meter run showcases his impressive ability in that event.
