BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- The Gulf South Conference announced its Softball Players of the Week with McCall Lee being named the GSC Player of the Week while Shelby Samples was tabbed the GSC Freshman of the Week. This week's awards were for games played between April 17-23.

Player of the Week: McCall Lee, Jr., C, Mississippi College
Lee had herself a week while helping Mississippi College to a successful 4-1 record. The junior catcher was solid at the plate, going 8-for-20 with a .400 batting average and three home runs. She also drove in seven runs, scored six times, and broke the school's single-season record for total bases—ending the week 118 total bases thus far.

Pitcher of the Week: Avery Dickerson, So., P, Auburn Montgomery
Dickerson went 2-0 as Auburn Montgomery swept No. 13 Valdosta State over the weekend. The sophomore finished the week allowing just two runs on three hits on a combined 10.1 innings pitched. She started both games she worked and had an overall 1.39 ERA and 0.88 opponent batting average, while striking out nine and walking three. Dickerson also notched her 14th complete game of the season with a 9-1 win in game two of a series opening doubleheader.

Freshman of the Week: Shelby Samples, Fr., OF, Mississippi College
Samples logged a solid numbers from the plate for the week as she went 7-for-18 for a .389 batting average with eight RBI, six runs scored, three doubles and a home run. The rookie helped the Choctaws go 4-1 on the week with a series win over Montevallo, while sweeping a non-conference doubleheader with West Georiga.
