GARDENDALE, Ala. --- Mississippi College rolled up 24 runs on Saturday in two combined games over Miles, winning game one by a final of 9-0 before winning game two 15-4 to complete the season sweep over Miles.
In game one,
Brooke Fagan got MC started off in the first inning with a solo home run to push MC ahead 1-0. With a single by
Alexis Laughlin, scoring
Shelby Samples, in the second inning and a home run by
Jenna Ergle in the third inning, the Lady Choctaws quickly led 4-0 after three complete.Â
With a run in the fourth and one in the fifth,
McCall Lee extended a 6-0 lead to 9-0 with a three run home run in the fifth inning, giving MC the 9-0 win.
In game two, MC took a quick 11-0 lead through four innings a play, including a two run home run by
Shelby Samples and a grand slam by
Kamryn Eaton.
McCall Lee added her second home run of the day with another three-run home run in the fifth inning giving MC a 15-1 lead after the top half of the fifth. Miles scored three runs in the bottom half of the fifth inning but the Lady Choctaws went on to win by a final of 15-4.
Avery Barneett picked up for fourth win in game one, going all five innings with eight strikeouts and two hits. In game two
Camryn Bailey picked up her ninth win, with no hits and four strikeouts.
MC had nine hits as a team in game one and 13 hits as a unit in the 15-4 game two win. With the wins on Saturday, MC improves to 14-4 overall on the season with Saturday's wins and will return to the diamond on Tuesday, March 7 on the road at Southern Arkansas beginning at 3 and 5 p.m. in Magnolia, Ark.Â
