VALDOSTA, Ga. --- Mississippi College dropped Sunday afternoon's series finale to #10 Valdosta State, falling by a final of 6-4 in game three.
Valdosta State scored two runs in the bottom half of the first inning, before thw Lady Choctaws responded with a run of their own in the top of the second inning on a home run by
Jenna Ergle.
Ergle's home run was her fourth of the season, as the solo shot cut the Blazers lead to 2-1. In the bottom half of the second inning, VSU opened up the score with four runs on four hits, including a pair of homer runs, as the home team took a 6-1 lead
MC got a run back in the fifth inning on two doubles, with
Jordan Moore opening up the inning with a double to right field. Moore later scored on a double by
Shelby Samples to centerfield, as MC pulled the score to 6-2.
The Lady Choctaws pushed two more runs across the plate in the seventh inning, on
Jenna Ergle's second home run of the game, and a sacrifice fly by Samples that scored Moore from third.
The two runs plated by the Lady Choctaws in the seventh unfortunely were not enough to finish the comeback, as the #10 ranked Blazers went on to win by a final of 6-4 to claim the series 2-1.
MC had five hits as a team, including two home runs by Ergle. Ergle's two home runs gives her five on the season, tied with
Kamryn Eaton for the team lead.Â
