PENSACOLA, Fla. -- The Mississippi College Lady Choctaws tennis program knocked off West Georgia on Friday afternoon, earning the 7-0 sweep to improved to 11-2 on the season.
MC swept all three doubles matches, with
Ely Alas/
Fernanda Cota winning at No. 1 doubles, 6-4, while
Anna Didkovska/
Anna Valiaeva (Def. Jones/Lewis, 6-4) and
Emma Roberts/Maria Rodriquez each won at No. 2 and 3 doubles. Mississippi College picked up the 1-0 point to take the early lead heading into singles play.
MC kept it rolling on the court picking up wins in all six singles matches.
Ely Alas defeated Portalier 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 singles with
Paulina Cota (6-4, 4-6, 1-0) and
Emma Roberts picking up wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles.
No. 4-6 for the Lady Choctaws in singles play handled business on their respective courts, as
Anna Valiaeva (6-0, 6-0),
Anna Didkovska(6-2, 6-3) and
Fernanda Cota (6-0, 6-0) capped off the afternoon for MC with big wins.
MC completed the perfect 7-0 sweep of West Georgia, improving to 11-2 overall on the season and 4-2 in GSC play. MC returns to action tomorrow afternoon versus Valdosta State with the two teams set to meet at 2 p.m. in Pensacola, Fla.
