ROME, Ga. -- The Mississippi College men and women's tennis programs took down Shorter Saturday afternoon, with the men winning by a final of 6-1 while the women swept Shorter, 7-0.
The men started off with a 1-0 win in doubles, with
Matias Ballatore/
Carlos Trujillo and
Brady McDaniel/Hsiang Yi Wang taking care on business 6-4, and 6-1 as MC started off with the quick lead.
The Choctaws earned wins at No.1 singles (
Brady McDaniel, 2-6, 6-0, 6-1), No. 2 singles (
Joe Jarvis (6-1, 4-6, 6-3), No. 3 singles (Hsiang Yi Wang, 6-1, 6-2) No.4 singles (
Carlos Trujillo, 6-3, 6-3) and No. 6 singles (
Walker Ellis, 6-0, 6-2) as the men handed Shorter the 6-1 defeat.Â
On the women's side, the Lady Choctaws swept through doubles play, picking up wins in three doubles matches.
Emma Roberts and Maria Rodriquez knocked off Emma Novie and Kyndall Moore of Shorter with a 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles, as MC picked up the 1-0 lead.

Anna Didkovska/
Anna Valiaeva pick up the win at No. 2 with a 6-2 defeat.
Ely Alas got things started off in singles with a. 6-3,6-1 win before,
Paulina Cota (7-5, 6-4) and
Emma Roberts (6-2, 6-2) picked up wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles. The Lady Choctaws rounded out the lineup with wins from No. 4 singles (
Anna Valiaeva, 6-2, 6-2) No. 5 singles (
Anna Didkovska, 6-0, 6-2) and No. 6 singles (
Fernanda Cota 6-0, 6-1) as MC completed the sweep, 7-0, over Shorter.Â
The women improved to 10-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play while the men improved to 3-6 overall and 2-1 in Gulf South Conference play. Both programs return to the court tomorrow on the road versus Lee with a start time set for 1 p.m. in Cleveland, Tenn.
