HUNTSVILLE, Ala.--- The 6-seed Mississippi College men's soccer team fell to 7-seed Christian Brothers 1-0 in the Gulf South Conference semifinals on Thursday evening (Nov. 3rd). The Bucs will now head into the GSC Championship match where they will take on 1-seed West Florida. MC finishes up the season 11-4-2 (6-3-2 GSC), while CBU improves to 11-2-5 (5-2-4 GSC).
Neither team was able to break through in a very even 1st half, as the match went into the break scoreless.
Each team had five shots, with three shots on goal apiece, in the 1st half.
CBU broke through and found the only goal of the match on a corner in the 56th minute. Ryoya Yoshikawa played the ball in on the corner and Lucho Galizzi put it home.
MC put a barrage of pressure on CBU's goal in the final minutes of the match, but couldn't quite find the equalizer.
Guilherme Santos led the way for MC with three shots. Four different Choctaws had shots on goal in the match (
Joshua Davies, Felix Ewald,
Soane Folituu and Santos).
Overall for the match, Christian Brothers outshot MC 14-8. The Bucs also led the way in shots on goal 6-4.
