PINEVILLE, La.--- The Mississippi College men's soccer team knocked off Louisiana Christian 4-3 in non-conference action on Monday evening (Oct. 17th).
Felix Ewald scored two goals, while
Noah Wagner and
Nico Milot both added goals as well. The Choctaws improve to 9-2-2 on the season with the win.
Nico Milot got the first goal of the match on a corner in the 18th minute.
Santi Diosa took the corner, and a Wildcat attempted to clear it out. Milot was there however and put it home to put the Choctaws ahead 1-0. The goal is Milot's 2nd of the season
Felix Ewald then doubled the lead in the 25th minute. He stole the ball from a LCU defender, and then beat the keeper 1v1 to push the lead to 2-0.
Noah Wagner then pushed the lead to 3-0 later in the first half. Nico Milot played a long ball forward, and Wagner beat the LCU keeper to the ball. He then expertly chipped the ball over the keeper to push the lead to 3-0 in the 30th minute. The goal pushes Wagner to 9 on the season, which currently gives him the most in the conference overall.
That 3-0 lead would remain for the rest of the 1st half.
Louisiana Christian then got a goal back in the 56th minute. Their first goal came in the 56th minute on a corner. The ball came in and landed in a crowd of players before ending up in the back of the net to make it a 3-1 game.
The Wildcats picked up another goal to trim MC's lead to 3-2 in the 60th minute.
Felix Ewald then picked up a huge goal in the 74th minute to push MC's lead back to two.
Jackson Earle played the ball in to Ewald, who put it home to make it a 4-2 game. The two goals on the afternoon gives Ewald 6 on the season, which is second on the team.
Louisiana Christian got a goal back late on a penalty kick in the 83rd minute.
The Choctaws were able to see the match out from there, picking up the win.
Next up, MC will head back into conference play as they wrap up the regular season this upcoming weekend. MC will take on Spring Hill on Friday afternoon (Oct. 21st) and then West Florida on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 23rd).
