Softball Shows Up at #6 in Latest NCAA South Region Rankings

CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College softball team leaped up to #6 in the latest NCAA South Region rankings, it was released on Wednesday (May 12).

The Lady Choctaws (21-20, 14-14 GSC) vaulted up the rankings after going 3-1 at last week's Gulf South Conference tournament, defeating two ranked teams (#16 UAH and #9 Valdosta State) and advancing to the championship game before falling to #3 Auburn Montgomery.

The top six teams from the South Region advance to the NCAA South Regional, hosted by Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Ga. (May 19-21). The official announcement of the full national tournament field will be held on Sunday (May 16) at 9:00 p.m. (CT) on NCAA.com.

MC has qualified for the NCAA Division II Tournament in 2-of-3 seasons since gaining full eligibility in the 2017 season. Overall, head coach Brooke O'Hair has advanced to NCAA postseason play five times (2007, 2010, 2011, 2017 and 2019).
 

Mississippi College is a private Christian university located in Clinton, Mississippi with an enrollment of over 5,000 students. MC recently finished their transition process back to NCAA Division II and the Gulf South Conference and began competing for conference and national championships in the 2016-17 academic year.
