HUNTSVILLE, Ala. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team won the 2021 Gulf South Conference Spring Championship Series title with a 3-0 victory over #2 Lee University on Saturday afternoon at John Hunt Park.
The Lady Choctaws (8-0, 5-0 GSC) scored in the first 10 minutes and cruised to the win over the Lady Flames (8-1-2, 4-0-1 GSC).

HOW IT HAPPENED
 - The Lady Choctaws got on the board early as
Emily McNair took a pass from
Erin Hederman and slid it past the Lee goalkeeper in the 9th minute to go ahead, 1-0.
 - MC then took a 2-0 lead in the 27th minute as
Lindsey Stephenson found the back of the net on an unassisted goal.
 - The Lady Choctaws took the two-goal lead into the break outshot the Lady Flames, 10-0.
 - In the second half, Lee had more opportunities, but the MC defense stood up to the challenge and pitched their third shuout of the season.

Avery Hederman capped off the scoring with a goal from outside the box in the 87th minute on an assist from
Beatrice Currie.
KEY STATS
 - The Lady Choctaws finished the match with 15 shots and eight on goal, while the Flames had eight shots with three on net.
 -
Avery Hederman led the way with five shots and four on goal, while Stephenson had a pair of shots on goal.
 -
Sara Maleski made three saves in goal to record her first shutout of the season.
 - Jackie Burns made five saves for the Lady Flames in goal.
