VICKSBURG, Miss. --- Mississippi College softball head coach
Brooke O'Hair won her 400th career game in capturing a series win over Delta State on Sunday afternoon at the Sports Force Park.
The Lady Choctaws (3-5, 2-1 GSC) bounced back from a 6-0 loss to the Lady Statesmen (6-5, 1-2 GSC) in the first game of the doubleheader, coming back to get a 2-1 victory in the final game of the series.
O'Hair, an Academic All-SEC selection as a second baseman at Mississippi State, earned her first career collegiate victory on February 20, 2007 in a 4-1 win over William Carey. She has led the Lady Choctaws to an NCCAA National Championship (2016), a Gulf South Conference championship (2017) and five NCAA Tournament appearances (2007, 2010, 2011, 2017, 2019).
The Lady Choctaws have had eight 30-win seasons in school history and O'Hair has seven of them, including the only 40-win season in school history in 2019.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 - The Lady Statesmen wasted no time getting on the board in the 1st as Kailyn Lofton singled home a pair of runs with a two-out single.
 - They would then add two unearned runs in the 3rd inning and push the lead out to 4-0.
 - DSU scored a run in the 4th and in the 7th to pick up the 6-0 victory.

KEY STATS
 - The Lady Choctaws tallied just four hits, led by a single and a walk from
Brooke Fagan.
 - Lofton led the DSU offense with three hits and three RBI, while Mary Sweatt notched a couple of hits off the bench.
 -
Avery Barnett (1-2) took the loss for MC, giving up three hits and two earned runs with three strikeouts over 3.0 innings.
 -
Shelby Carlson pitched the final 4.0 innings and gave up just three hits and two earned runs.
 - Lacey Coats (4-1) gave up four hits and struck out three in the complete-game effort for DSU.

GAME TWO: MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE 2, DELTA STATE 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
 - The first three innings were scoreless before DSU broke through with a two-out, RBI double from Julie Scheuermann to score Jenny Griggers and take a 1-0 lead.
 -
Jordan LaFosse wasted no time getting the score tied, leading off the bottom of the 4th with a solo home run on the first pitch.
 - The Lady Choctaws used some two-out magic in the 5th inning as
Morgan Bradford tripled and scored on an infield single from
Rayne Minor.
 -
Avery Sanders made the lead stand up, allowing just one baserunner over the final two innings and retiring the side in order in the 7th.
KEY STATS
 - Sanders (2-3) collected her second win of the weekend, striking out nine batters and allowing just four hits and two walks over the complete-game effort.
 - LaFosse and
McCall Lee each had a pair of hits for the Lady Choctaws, including a double for Lee.
 - Coats (4-2) took the loss for the Lady Statesmen, giving up six hits and two earned runs in her second complete game of the day.

NEXT UP
 - The Lady Choctaws are scheduled to be back in action next weekend in Southeast Georgia when they travel to #10 Valdosta State for a three-game series (Feb. 27-28).
