Lady Choctaws Hang on for 7-5 Win Over Mobile

MOBILE, Ala. --- The Mississippi College softball team picked up their first win of the season with a 7-5 victory over the University of Mobile on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Choctaws (1-2) avenged a 3-2 loss on Friday to the Rams (1-2).

HOW IT HAPPENED
  - The game was scoreless through 4.0 innings as Avery Barnett and Emily Butts battled in the circle and threw up several zeros.
  - The Lady Choctaws got the offense going in the 5th, starting with an RBI single from Rayne Minor before a two-run double from Jordan LaFosse made the score 3-0.
  - With two outs in the frame Mallory Little also brought home two runs with a double and MC grabbed the 5-0 advantage.
  - The Rams answered with a pair of runs in their half of the 5th, but the damage was limited as Avery Sanders stranded the bases loaded.
  - MC responded with two more runs in the 6th as LaFosse and Mackenzie Collins both doubled home runs to push the lead back to 7-2.
  - The Rams got right back in the game, however, in their half of the 6th, scoring three runs to cut the lead back to 7-5.
  - Barnett came back in the game to get out of the jam and sent MC to the 7th with the two-run lead.
  - After a scoreless inning for the Lady Choctaws, the Rams got a one-out single, but MC turned a double play to end the game.
