ARKADELPHIA, Ark. --- The Mississippi College softball team wrapped up the McGhee/Hawkins Invitational, hosted by Henderson State and Ouachita Baptist, with a 1-0 win over Missouri-St. Louis on Sunday morning.
The Lady Choctaws improved to 4-3, and their matchup with #21 Tarleton State was cut short due to rain. The game is not scheduled to be made up.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 - The game was a pitcher's duel between the tandem of
Madi Lancaster and
Avery Barnett for MC and Andee Tiffee of UMSL.
 - The Lady Choctaws put a pair of baserunners on in the first inning but were unable to mount much of a threat until the sixth.
 - The Tritons led of the fifth with a pair of singles and had runners on first and third with no outs, but Barnett came in and shut the door to keep the game scoreless.
 - In the sixth, Baylee Freudendberg singled with one out and pinch-runner
Grace Hahn stole second before a walk to
Mackenzie Collins put runners at first and second with two outs.

Jordan LaFosse was able to reach on a UMSL error to brought Hahn home with the eventual game-winning run.
 - The Tritons led of the seventh with a single, but Barnett got the next three batters out to clinch the MC win.

KEY STATS
 - The Lady Choctaws had just three hits in the contest Freudenberg,
Shayla McKissock and
Hayden Claypool each racking up singles.
 - Morgan Hill had a pair of hits for the Tritons to lead the UMSL offense.
 - Barnett (2-1) allowed just two hits with two strikeouts over the final 3.0 innings to collect the victory.
 - Lancaster scattered four hits with three punchouts over 4.0 innings, and the two pitchers combined for no walks in the game.
 - Tiffee (0-2) took the loss for the Tritons, despite allowing just three hits and an unearned run with 10 strikeouts.

NEXT UP
 - The Lady Choctaws are scheduled to open their home schedule this week with five games on the slate, beginning on Thursday with a doubleheader against Miles at 2:00 p.m.
 - MC will then host West Alabama to open GSC play, starting on Friday with a single game at 6:00 p.m. and a doubleheader on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
 - With rain in the forecast in the early part of this week, the schedule situation will be fluid based on field conditions.
