Lady Choctaws Fall to #14 Angelo State, 5-2

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. --- The Mississippi College women's tennis team opened the Ouachita Baptist Invitational with a 5-2 loss to #14 Angelo State on Friday afternoon at the Ward Tennis Center.

The Lady Choctaws fell to 1-2 on the season, while the Rams improved to 3-1.
 

DOUBLES ACTION
  - The doubles point was a tight affair that saw the Rams eventually grab the lead with a tie-break win at #2.
  - After ASU picked up a 6-1 win at #3, the #1 team of Aneta Golawska and Tori Roberts knotted things up with a 7-5 victory.
  - The point-clinching match came down to a tie-break, but the team of Paulina Cota and Alisa Morozova dropped the point with a hard-fought loss.
 

SINGLES ACTION
  - The nationally-ranked Rams were able to clinch the overall victory wins in the first four singles matches, all in straight sets.
  - The Lady Choctaws would not quit, however, as Cota gave MC their first point of the match with a 6-3, 6-3 win at the #3 spot.
  - Roberts gave the match its final score with a 7-5, 6-3 win at #4 to improve to 3-0 in singles action on the young season.
 

NEXT UP
  - The Lady Choctaws will be back in action on Saturday to face North Central Texas at 2:00 p.m.
  - They will close out the OBU Invitational on Sunday against Henderson State at 10:00 a.m..
