TAMPA, Fla. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team erased a two-goal deficit over the final 13 minutes of regulation to pick up a 3-2 overtime win over the University of Tampa on Sunday afternoon.
The #13 Lady Choctaws (1-1) had another massive edge in shots, putting up 25 shots with 15 shots on goal, compared to just five shots with four on goal for the Spartans (0-2).
UT opened the scoring in the second minute as Moeko Morse scored her second goal of the season, and Elena Barr followed that up with a tally in the 22nd minute on an assist from Syd Griner.
The Spartans would keep the two-goal lead until the 78th minute when freshman
Kaylee Foster scored the first of her two goals in the match to cut the lead in half.
She would add another unassisted tally just over 20 seconds later to tie the game at 2-2, and the teams would remain deadlocked and go into overtime.
In the first overtime period, with just 21 seconds remaining, freshman
Lexi Pund shot a ball across the face of goal that senior
Katie Taylor cleaned up to cap off the come-from-behind win for the Lady Choctaws.
MC would take all three shots in the overtime period and out shot the Spartans by a count of 15-2 over the final 55 minutes.
The Lady Choctaws are not scheduled to play again until Saturday, September 21st when they host former American Southwest Conference rival Texas-Tyler at 1:00 p.m. at Longabaugh Field.
