CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer program celebrated their storied history with the annual Alumni Game on Saturday (Aug. 31) afternoon at Robert P. Longabaugh Field.

"It's always a great time seeing our awesome former Lady Choctaws come back for this game," said head coach Darryl Longabaugh. "They are the reason we are in the position we are in, competing for the Gulf South Conference title every year. We owe it to them as the building blocks of this winning program."

The current Lady Choctaws faced off against the alumni and played a pair of 30-minute periods before the 2019 MC team played an intra-squad game for another 30 minutes.

The Lady Choctaws grabbed an 11-1 win over the alumni, but Peace Gill (2018) scored for the former players in the 43rd minute on an assist from Lauren Smith (2018).

Nine different Lady Choctaws scored on the day, led by a pair of goals each from seniors Katie Taylor (5', 24') and Jess Davenport (8', 23'). Freshman Emma Young scored one and assisted on two goals in the match.

"It's a good time catching up with everybody. Lots of people have new babies or have been recently married," said Macey Lee (2014). "It's good to bring it back in and remember the good times."

The Lady Choctaws are slated to open the regular season on Friday (Sep. 6) when they travel to Florida to face Saint Leo at 6:00 p.m. (CT).
