CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College softball team clinched a series sweep of Shorter without allowing a run, taking the final game by a score of 6-0 on Saturday afternoon at the MC Softball Complex.
The Lady Choctaws won their 8th straight game and clinched a spot in the Gulf South Conference Tournament. MC improved to 33-10 overall with a 16-7 league record, while the Hawks fell to 15-27 and 8-18 in conference play.

>> The Lady Choctaws got all the offense they needed in the first inning with a pair of two-out runs as junior
Carly Crawford scored on a wild pitch, and senior
Brianna Caldwell touched the plate on an RBI single from freshman
Baylee Freudenberg.
>> Senior
Alexia Harmon added a run in the second inning with an RBI groundout that scored freshman
Gracie Trahan.
>> MC tacked on two more runs in the third as freshman
Grace Hahn scored on a wild pitch and junior
Morgan Bradford crossed the dish on a groundout by Trahan.
>> The final run of the game scored in the sixth when senior
Kristen Qualls came off the bench to hit her 4th home run of the season and 33rd of her career.

Cori Cooper (11-6) picked up her second win of the weekend, allowing just four hits and striking out seven over 5.0 innings.
>> Sophomore
Madi Lancaster tossed the final 2.0 innings, giving up just two hits.
>> Five different Lady Choctaws tallied hits, while six different players scored runs in the game.
>> Payton Lippert (11-12) took the loss for Shorter, giving up five hits and five earned runs over 6.0 innings.
>> Julianna Bellflower led the way with two hits.
