CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College Women's Tennis team improved to 2-0 in Gulf South Conference play this afternoon after defeating the Chargers of Alabama-Huntsville by a score of 4-1. The Choctaws will improve to 4-2 overall and the Chargers will fall to 3-5.
The match between the two schools was originally scheduled to start at 1:00 P.M. on March 2 but was moved up to 10:00 A.M. However due to unexpected showers and wet playing surfaces, the match was pushed back to a 12:30 P.M. start time.
Once underway the Chargers were able to able to cruise in doubles picking up two 6-3 wins putting the Lady Choctaws down a point going into singles action. In singles the Lady Choctaws were able to rally with four straight victories from the #2 through #5 players.
Nicole Bueno remained unbeaten in singles on the year with her win,
Paulina Cota won in straight sets.
Aneta Golawska rallied to win in three sets, and
RebeccaGrace Kimball sealed the victory for MC with her win in straight sets.
The Lady Choctaws will be back in GSC action on Wednesday March 6 as they travel to Livingston, Ala. to face West Alabama at 3:30 P.M.
