JACKSON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team was eliminated from the 2019 NCAA Division II Tournament with a 5-1 second round loss to Nova Southeastern on Sunday afternoon at Harper Davis Field on the campus of Millsaps College.
The Lady Choctaws finished the season at 15-3, setting a school record with 15 straight wins earlier in the season. The Sharks are now 15-4-2 and will advanced to the "Sweet Sixteen" where they will face Embry-Riddle on December 5th.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 - The Lady Choctaws got things going early as senior
Emma Claire Furman scored her third goal of the season directly from a corner kick to give MC a 1-0 lead just three minutes into the match.
 - The Sharks answered, however, in the 5th minute with the equalizer as Hannah Christophe took a through-ball from Emily O'Connell and scored to knot the match.
 - The eventual game-winning goal was scored in the 14th minute as Emma Heikkila found a loose ball in the box and sent a beautiful strike into the back of the net.
 - The match would remain with a 2-1 score through the first half as both teams had multiple chances to tie the match or extend the lead.
 - The Sharks would put the game away in the 71st minute as Heikkila struck a free kick from just outside the box into the right side of the goal to push the lead to -1.
 - Adanna Edwards (78') and Kaitlyn Chomko (89') tacked on a pair of goals in the final minute to give the match its final score.

KEY STATS
 - The Lady Choctaws took 10 shots to eight for the Sharks, but six of NSU's shots came on net, while just two came on goal for MC
 - MC had six corner kicks in the match, but all six came in the first half.
 - Furman led the Lady Choctaws with four shots and two on goal, while freshmen
Erin Hederman and
Emma Young also had two shots in the match.
 - Heikkila led the way for NSU with four shots and two goals.

MATCH NOTES
 - The Lady Choctaws entered the tournament as the #1 seed in the South Region, hosting the first two rounds of the tournament.
 - MC is now 1-2 all-time against NSU, meeting in the NCAA Tournament in each of the last two seasons with the Lady Choctaws getting a 3-0 win in 2018.
 - The five goals was the most allowed for the Lady Choctaws since a 5-0 loss to Washington-St. Louis on August 31, 2013.
