CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team won their 15th straight match and opened the Gulf South Conference Tournament with a 3-1 win over Delta State on Tuesday afternoon at Robert P. Longabaugh Field.
The Lady Choctaws (15-1) have now advanced to the semifinals, which open on Friday in Pensacola, Fla. The Lady Statesmen (6-7-4) wrap up a historic campaign with their first-ever tournament appearance.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 - The Lady Choctaws wasted no time grabbing the lead as freshman
Kaylee Foster scored her seventh goal of the season in the 4th minute on an assist from junior
Lexi Pund.
 - The match would head into the half with MC holding on to the 1-0 lead.
 - Senior
Emma Claire Furman scored what would eventually be the game-winner in the 65th minute as she took an assist from junior
Emily McNair and pushed it past the DSU goalkeeper.
 - The final MC goal was scored by senior
Katie Taylor, who notched her 13th tally of the season in the 78th minute on an assist from junior
Lindsey Stephenson.
 - The Lady Statesmen were able to get on the board in the 79th minute when Erin Longsden scored, but MC would go on to defeat DSU for the second time this season.

KEY STATS
 - The Lady Choctaws poured on 11 shots with eight coming on goal, while the Lady Statesmen had five shots with four on net.
 - Taylor, who was named GSC Offensive Player of the Year earlier in day, led all players with three shots in the match.
 - Senior goalkeeper
Gabby Kayser made three saves with one goal allowed to earn her 15th win of the season.
 - Amanda Hilliard took the loss for DSU, giving up three goals and making five saves.

MATCH NOTES
 - The Lady Choctaws will advance to the GSC Tournament semifinals for the third time in four years, qualifying for the GSC Champoinship match in 2016 and 2017.
 - MC played without two of their starting back-line players as seniors
Jordan Dillon and
Liza Wise were sidelined with injuries.
 - Wise was named GSC Defensive Player of the Year earlier in the day, while
Erin Hederman earned Freshman of the Year honors.
