CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College men's soccer team will be back in Gulf South Conference play this weekend as they host Shorter on Sept. 28 and Lee on Sept. 29. The match against Shorter has been moved to Belhaven due to poor weather conditions and the match against Lee is still currently scheduled to take place at Robert P. Longabaugh Field.
MC NOTES
- The Choctaws will bring in an overall record of 4-2-0 into Tuesday's match and a record of 2-1 in Gulf South Conference play.
- MC is coming off of an epic comeback win last Friday against rival Delta State. Down 2-0 with 12 minutes left in the match,
Tom Carles and
Javier Avelar scored before the end of regulation to force overtime. In the 107th freshman
Jorge Fernandez had a header find the back of the net to complete the epic comeback and give MC the 3-2 win.
- The golden goal from Fernandez was the first of his MC career. It was also the first goals in Carles' and Avelar's careers as well.
- The Choctaws offense has been spread out so far this season and there are two Choctaws tied for the lead in goals scored.

SHORTER NOTES
- The Hawks are bringing into Friday's match an overall record of 0-8-0 and a record of 0-3 in GSC play.
- Shorter offensively has netted seven goals on the year and have just two assists as a team. Defensively for the Hawks, they have allowed 27 goals this season on 148 shots.
- The two leading goal scorers so far this season are Thallison Alex and Jackson Wheatley, who have both scored two goals this season.
LEE NOTES
- The Flames will bring into Sunday's match an overall record of 5-2-1 and a record of 3-0-0 in GSC play.
- Lee has been dominate in GSC play so far scoring a total of 11 goals and not allowing a single goal so far in the three game stretch.
- The Flames key playmakers are Aidan Moore and Palle Jespersen. Moore has netted five goals on the season and Palle has scored three goals and recorded three assists.
SERIES HISTORY
- The Choctaws will bring in an all-time record of 2-1-1 against Shorter, the last meeting between the two was a 4-0 victory for MC in Rome, Ga. a year ago.
- MC has an all-time record of 2-3-0 against the Flames and the last meeting between the two was a 2-1 win for the Choctaws in Cleveland, Tenn. last year.
MATCH COVERAGE
Live stats and live video will be available (weather permitting) for both matches this weekend on MC's athletics website. Friday's match against Shorter is currently scheduled for a 1 p.m. start time and Sunday's match against Lee is also currently scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start time.
