MONTGOMERY, Ala. --- The Mississippi College men's tennis team closed out their 2018 season with a 5-4 Gulf South Conference victory over the number 40 ranked Warhawks of Auburn University at Montgomery on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Choctaws close out the season 8-10 overall, and 3-7 in GSC action.
In doubles play, the #10 ranked duo of
Joan Valy and
Marcos Rocca bested Francisco Jimenez and Alvaro Terron 8-6 at the number one flight. The win for the duo finishes them at 14-4 as a pair in 2018.
In singles action, #26 Valy knocked off #29 Alvaro Terron (AUMM) 6-3, 6-2 in the number one spot, finishing at 12-2 on the year.
Marcos Rocca defeated Francisco Jimenez 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 in three sets, to bring his record to 13-3 for the year.
Seniors Valy, Rocca,
Lucio Menezes, Sander Barrick,
Petar Damjanovic and Jose Rodrigo Gonzales were able to end their careers at MC with a team victory in their last match.
