JACKSON, Tenn. --- The Mississippi College softball team swept both ends of a doubleheader over Lane College on Wednesday afternoon at Muse Park.
The Lady Choctaws improved to 14-10 on the season, while the Dragons dropped to 4-9.

MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE 14, LANE 5 (GAME ONE)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lady Choctaws got the offense going early as junior
Kristen Qualls singled to center field to score freshman
Kayla Murphy and grab a 1-0 lead.
- The Dragons answered in the bottom of the first with a two-run home run from Ericka Webster to give Lane their lone lead of the day.
- MC would take the lead for good with a five run second inning as sophomore
Carly Crawford and junior
Brianna Caldwell each doubled home a run and Qualls singled home the fifth of the frame.
- The teams traded runs over the next few innings, but the Lady Choctaws would put the game away with six runs in the sixth inning.
- After an RBI single by junior
Makenzie Nieto to start the scoring, freshman
Jessica Aron hit her first career home run, a three-run shot to make the score 12-5.
- Junior
Alexia Harmon was the next batter and hit her second home run of the season, while senior
Katherine Lee drove in the final run of the game.
KEY STATS
- Aron went 3-for-3 in the contest with a triple and a home run, driving in a team-high four RBI in the contest.
- Crawford, Caldwell and Qualls also had multiple-hit games, while Qualls and Harmon drove in a pair of runs.
- Aron would also score three runs in the contest, leading a group of four Lady Choctaws that scored multiple times.
- Senior
Kristen Gardner (2-3) picked up the win in the circle for MC, tying a career-high with eight strikeouts over 6.0 innings.

MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE 7, LANE 0 (GAME TWO)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless first inning, Nieto gave MC all the offense they would need in the second inning with a solo home run.
- Freshman
Madi Lancaster (1-2) took it from there by tossing her first career shutout in her first career win, allowing just one hit in the victory.
- MC would add four more runs in the third inning as Crawford hit her second home run of the season, a three-run shot.
- Qualls would then step in and hit her fifth long ball of the season to make the score 5-0. It would be her 26th career home run, which is just one away from tying they all-time school record, set by Brooke Smitherman.
- Harmon extended the lead in the fourth with her third home run of the season and second of the day, making the score 6-0.
- The final run came by way of a Murphy sac fly that would score sophomore
Shayla McKissock.
KEY STATS
- Lancaster struck out a season-high seven batters and gave up her lone hit of the game in the fifth inning.
- Only two batters reached base as Whitney Knight had a base-hit and Lancaster hit one batter.
- McKissock led the Lady Choctaws with two hits and two runs scored in the contest, while Crawford drove in a team-high three runs.
- Aron had her third extra-base hit of the day, doubling in the nightcap.

NEXT UP
- The Lady Choctaws will be back in action this weekend when they travel to Florence to face #4 North Alabama in a three-game series. The series is now scheduled to start on Friday with a doubleheader at 3:00 p.m., followed by a single game on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The games were moved up a day due to possible inclement weather in the area this weekend.
