COLUMBUS, Ga. --- Mississippi College senior
Katherine Lee set the school record for career stolen bases in an 8-3 win over Georgia Southwestern on Saturday afternoon at the Southern Softball Showdown.
Lee (Monroe, La.) tallied three swipes on the night to give her 85 for her career, breaking the record of 84 set by Jennifer Jones (2008-11) and Shay Mickens (2014-15).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lady Choctaws got things going in the first inning after Lee drew a walk and stole one of her three bases on the night.
- Freshman
Kayla Murphy singled her home, stole second and scored on an RBI single from junior
Brianna Caldwell.
- After the Canes tied the game with a couple runs in the fourth, freshman
Jessica Aron gave the Lady Choctaws a 3-2 advantage in the fifth with an RBI double to score sophomore
Shayla McKissock after she walked to lead off the inning.
- Lee would set the new school record for stolen bases in the fifth inning when she singled to left field and swiped second base.
- GSW wasted no time tying the game back up in the sixth with a two-out RBI double from Graysen Sand to score Allee Denney.
- MC finally got the offense going in the sixth inning with five runs on three hits that was sparked by a pair of walks and a double-steal from juniors
Makenzie Nieto and
Alexia Harmon.
- After a great at-bat by junior
Shelby Miller to load the bases with a walk, McKissock gave the Lady Choctaws the lead for good with her first two career RBI on a single up the middle.
- Lee would drive in a run of her own in the sixth, and Murphy brought home McKissock and Lee with a single to give the game its final score.
