CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's tennis team ran their season-opening win streak to seven matches with their 6-3 Gulf South Conference victory over West Alabama on Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Lady Choctaws improve to 7-0 overall, and 2-0 in GSC play.
The Lady Choctaws grabbed the early 2-1 advantage at the conclusion of doubles play, with wins from
Brenna Keller and
AnneMarie Kimball (8-1) in the number one matchup, and
Sofia Gonzalez-Carrera and
RebeccaGrace Kimball at the number three matchup. A. Kimball and Keller improved to a team-best 7-0 as a duo on the season with their win.
In singles action,
Nicole Bueno (6-2, 7-6 (7-3), Gonzalez-Carrera (6-2, 6-4), A. Kimball (6-4, 6-3) and
Aneta Golawska (6-3, 6-2) all knocked off their opponents in straight sets. Golawska and A. Kimball upped their single's records to a team-best 7-0 on the season with their victories in their respective matchups.
The Lady Choctaws will return to action on Saturday, March 3 when they travel to Huntsville, Ala. to take on Alabama Huntsville in GSC action. First serve is slated for 12:00 p.m.
